Day 1 at DUT Data Day : Power BI Presentation
On the 28 August 2019 the DUT AppFactory participated in the DUT Data Day. DUT Data Day is about Knowing, Doing and Impacting. The D3 event covered two exciting days of sharing data skills and showcasing data-informed projects and activities that have been implemented or are currently in progress across the University. Day 1 focused on training and upskilling (Knowing). Day 2 showcased the data work (Doing and Impacting).
The training as part of Day 1 was on Data Analysis using the latest technologies. The DUT App Factory presented a session on how to Analysing data using Microsoft Power BI Desktop. This training was attended by DUT Staff from different departments.
The workshop covered the following:
- Introduction to Power BI
- Getting data into power BI desktop
- Modelling your data
- Visualizations
- Publishing and sharing your reports.
Power BI Desktop is a Data Visualization and Business Intelligence tool that converts data from different data sources to interactive dashboards and BI reports. The team used Power BI Desktop as a tool to analyse data and to do the practicals. Exercises were given to attendees to ensure that they understood how Power BI worked.
Attendees were really excited about the event and looked forward to learning new ways to analyse data.
